Are you Healthy or Dis-eased?

Three of the biggest factors that cause Dis – ease in our lives are the emotions we hold onto, the stress we have in our lives and the food we eat.  Let’s explore this a bit further.

EMOTIONS.   All our unresolved negative emotions reside in our subconscious or unconscious mind, and powerfully direct our life, affect our choices, behaviours and results.   If we don’t clean out this part of our mind, these emotions hang around and can cause us to fail to reach our full potential in our lives.  As our feelings cause us to behave in certain ways, if you are feeling anger you may not only be stressed, but act in a way that doesn’t get you get great results.  Perhaps you can recall a time when you were angry and what the outcome of this was, how it impacted on family, colleagues or friends?   Anger and negative emotions waste energy and create stress and disease.   We take time to service our car, but most of us never service or clean out our biggest asset, our mind! Recognising that we need to clean out our subconscious mind is the first step to creating optimal results.   The next step is to take action. The good news is that there are easy and effective techniques in the NLP “toolbag” that can assist you with this as well as other unwanted thoughts and behaviours.  So, if you recognise you need to change something give me a call.

STRESS We all need a bit of stress to keep us moving and to motivate us into action! However, most people are far too stressed.  Holding onto stress not only makes us feel bad, it creates ill health, or dis – ease. Stress produces high levels of cortisol in our body (Google this to see what it does to you!) Amongst other things, it makes us old before our time!  I don’t know about you but I don’t know anyone who wants to age early, do you?   Many people get stressed because they worry about things that haven’t even happened!  Maybe you are one of them?  If you consider that worrying is like praying for something you don’t want, wouldn’t you want to stop it right now!  Feeling “stressed” just means you are running a strategy that is not working, so it needs to be changed.   Next time you feel stressed, stop for a moment, remember to breathe and focus on your breath.  This takes your attention inside and away from the “stress.”   Ask yourself the question “What is the one thing I need to do right now?”  Focus fully on just that one thing. It will allow you to start moving forward again. Try it out for yourself and see how it helps you.  It’ better to be moving forward, however slowly.  Remember the tortoise and the hare?   Finally, know that a journey of a thousand miles begins with just one small step.  If you need help with stress then please give me a call.

FOOD Much of the food we eat is processed and has a myriad of added chemicals. This affects the functioning of our internal systems, organs, metabolism and overall health.  Many of these processed foods cause allergies, obesity and many of our modern day illnesses, heart disease, diabetes and cancers.   Take a moment and consider how many people you know who have been affected by some sort of cancer, heart disease or other debilitating illnesses.  Many of these so called “dis- eases” were very rare or didn’t exist years ago.

You have probably heard of the saying, “You are what you eat.”  When you add this to my favourite, “You become what you think about all day long,” you can see how these are related to our overall health.   What food are you putting in your body (and what are you thinking?)  We all have choices, and what choices are you making?  Do you eat lots of takeaways, breakfast on the run, snacks, potato chips, and convenience food?  Could you fuel your body better?  Hippocrates said “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”  Most of us have forgotten this is what the purpose of food really is.

Understanding the importance of the mind body connection, has led me to team up with Roslyn Uttleymoore and Maria Waldock.  The work they are doing with food, nutrition, diet, cleansing and health, along with the health of our blood (Maria has a background in pathology), and the results they are getting with their clients is nothing short of spectacular.  Likewise, they have seen what I am doing, the results I am getting, working with the Mindset, behaviours, strategies and habits, and we realised that we complement each other totally.   Our aim is to educate and show people how to make better choices and live healthily and happier lives!  After all, isn’t that what most of us really want?

Consequently, I will be hosting my first half day workshop for 2011, FOCUS FOR RESULTS at ALOHA MANA HEALTH RETREAT (Buderim) on Saturday 26th February, 9am – 1pm.
